09:43 pm: I thought I'd  put up a few pics of my fiance. You'll all need to tell me how adorable he is. ;-)

07:57 pm:  It's been a few days, but the prophet has died.

So...since he was 97 years old when he died, there is a "Hinckley Challenge" going on to read the Book Of Mormon in 97 days. A few years ago he challenged all Latter Day Saints to read the Book of Mormon in one year. I accepted this new , "Hinckley Challenge," with a lot of enthusiasm, mostly because I'd like to honor him.  There's a site you can go join that will log your reading and show you how others are doing. As of 8:00 tonight, there are 22,640 people who have signed up and accepted the challenge. How amazing is that?! It makes my heart swell to know how many lives he has touched. I suspect the numbers will continue to climb. I love the Book of Mormon. Really.

12:48 pm:

I'm SO tired and SO stressed. It's the 10th and I'm broke. BROKE!

I have too much debt and it just won't go away. No matter how much I pay or how often, it just doesn't seem to move!

Does anyone have a bag of money they don't need?

Blech!

11:02 am: Gacked from Lissa...I haven't heard from you in forever! I hope all is well.

Okay, here's what you're supposed to do and try not to be a SCROOGE!!! Just change all the answers so they apply to you, then post this on your journal. It's the season to be cheerful!!!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper, all the way.

2. Tree--Real or Artificial? Real. Has to be real.

3. When do you put Christmas tree up? Me, right after Thanksgiving. My family waits until like a week before Christmas.

4. When do you take the tree down? Right after Christmas

5. Like eggnog? Yes, but in small doses.

6. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes.

7. Favourite gift received as a child? A bike.

8. Hardest person to buy for? My brother-in-law. You can't make him happy.

9. Easiest person to buy for? Me! Just kidding...my mom, probably.

12. Favourite Christmas movie? I agree with Lissa: How the Grinch Stole Christmas--the animated version.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? After Thanksgiving sometime. Whenever.

09:13 am:

So, I'm turning 28 on Sunday and I don't think I need to really explain how much I do NOT want to get older. So instead I'll reflect on all I've accomplished this last year, and then list some goals for the next.
Last year I wanted to:

+ Hike the Grand Canyon. Check

+ Lose 5% of my body fat. Meh...at least I didn't go up, right?

+ Learn to paint. Checkish. I have a LOT more practicing to do. Yeesh.

So...for next year:

+ become a better painter

+ summit the Grand Tetons

+ get my general ed. teaching certificate

...I'll come up with more, I just can't think of any right now.

07:56 am: Holy Hannah, it's been a long time!
So...life is goodish. I really can't complain. I'm excited for the holiday weekend so I can go home and see my family. My sister had a new baby so I'll get to meet her for the first time. Freeman is coming to Thanksgiving dinner with me. I hope my family doesn't freak him out. He's invited me to his work Christmas party, but it's on the 20th and we don't get out (officially) until the 24th. Pretty late this year, but I'm thinking I can probably take two days off. Right? I'll feel guilty but not TOO guilty.

Work is...meh. There are problems with parents but I've got to learn to not take things so personally. No one can make them happy.

Anyhow, I've got a lot to catch up on with my flist...I haven't been around for awhile.

11:33 am:  Interesting.

I'm, unofficially, an INFP personality; I'd say that's very accurate.

This means that I'm an Introvert:
  • Think/reflect first, then act

  • Regularly require an amount of "private time" to recharge batteries

  • Motivated internally, mind is sometimes so active it is "closed" to outside world

  • Prefer one-to-one communication and relationships

Intuitive:

  • Mentally live in the future, attending to future possibilities

  • Using imagination and creating/inventing new possibilities is automatic-instinctual

  • Memory recall emphasizes patterns, contexts, and connections

  • Best improvise from theoretical understanding

  • Comfortable with ambiguous, fuzzy data and with guessing its meaning.

Feeling:

  • Instinctively employ personal feelings and impact on people in decision situations

  • Naturally sensitive to people needs and reactions.

  • Naturally seek consensus and popular opinions.

  • Unsettled by conflict; have almost a toxic reaction to disharmony.

And Perceiving:

  • Comfortable moving into action without a plan; plan on-the-go.

  • Like to multitask, have variety, mix work and play.

  • Naturally tolerant of time pressure; work best close to the deadlines.

  • Instinctively avoid commitments which interfere with flexibility, freedom and variety

Take the test and post your results!

09:15 pm:

A/N: This little fic was first scribbled down on loose bits of paper whilst on my own little family camping excursion well over two years ago. It had been a disaster and I spent most of my time hiding away in my hot tent to keep away from the wasps, documenting my misery for such an occasion as this. Anyhow, it turned into this monstrosity; enjoy!

Oh, and I don’t know what the British version of a “pancake” is (if they even eat them), so I just left it Americanized. And I’d just like to say that I’ve eaten enough of those pancakes growing up, to have had them permanently stain my opinion of them. Even when they’re cooked properly, I can’t touch the things.

Part One:

Part Two should be up on the weekend. I hope you enjoyed it.

11:42 pm:

Ha ha ha! Have you ever been in a the kind of mood where you're so INCREDIBLY tired that anything and everything is freakin' hilarious?

I mowed the lawn today and I started laughing because my landlord, who seems to be as bright at Big D, put the handle on upside-down. So now I have to stoop over to push it. I just know I looked like a complete idiot. And it was coughing and sputtering, too, which I'm sure the leering neighbor thought entertaining. Yeah, that's right, there was some hispanic guy standing at the end of his driveway, right across from mine, just staring. Watching. I straightened from my bend-double mowing stance to look pointedly at him, like, "What?!", but that didn't deter him.

Usually, people who were caught staring, look away, embarrassed. Not him. He's got no social sense. Don't you know it's RUDE to not look abashed when you're caught?! At least pretend to be looking at something else. Or maybe he was just admiring the mow lines in my grass. I like the diagonal lines best. :)

Oy, it's midnight. I need to sleep!

10:27 am: James E. Faust died this morning just after midnight. He was an excellent and upstanding man and he was loved greatly by all those who knew him, as well by those who he touched through his words. I never met him personally, but I've listened to his soft and reassuring voice since I was 15. I'm terribly sad that he is gone from us, but I know that he's in a much better place now. He was such a wonderful man....

01:29 pm: So I go online to sell some of my books. We're going to be moving soon and I just have a lot of stuff and I thought, why not sell some of it?! So like I said and I post two of my most favorite books (both classics; both in excellent condition, both dated at the turn of the century.).  I thought I'd sell them for something like twenty bucks, seeing as that's about how much I paid for them at the flea markets. Turns out, similar books -and they're not as in as good condition as mine- are selling for 300.00. Woah. I had NO idea. We'll see if I get any buyers. Let's hope.

I'm also selling my desk and dresser, which I'm loathe to see go. I love them both, but they just won't fit in my new apt. My roommate has a LOT of stuff and well, I hate clutter. So I'd rather sell my stuff and live simply than have a house FULL of furniature. I like open spaces. A lot. But I love my furniature. I spent months picking it out. *sigh* I hope I get my asking price. I don't really want to lose money on them. Wishful thinking? Probably.

I took some pictures of Harry today. So freaking cute. How can you not love rabbits?!

03:20 pm: When I first got the book, I held it in my hands and felt this insane urge to put it on my shelf and not read it. I didn't want to start what was the beginning of the end.

Anyhow, I'd like to know what you all thought.

09:50 pm: I LOVED OotP. LOVED! I felt that it is, by far, the best movie so far. The acting is so much better -Daniel -and especially Emma- have blossomed. They all did such a wonderful job.

Excellent. Seriously over-shot all my expectations.

05:57 pm: woot woot
SQUEE!! I'm going to watch OotP tomorrow at 7:00!! And I get to watch it with a kid, which makes it somehow more fun. A student of mine called me up to say that she missed me and wanted to see me, so I said I'd take her to the movie.
I'd been reading the HP books with her during the school year -just her and I- for 30 minutes everyday. I got her hooked. Anyway, I can't wait for the movie! Or the book for that matter. SQUEE!!

11:40 pm: BOOK REC.
I read Pullman's, The Golden Compass last week -very good- and have started on the next installment, The Subtle Knife. He's a brilliant writer and I'm captivated by his storytelling. Really amazing. I guess they're making a movie of Compass that's suppose to be out in the winter sometime.

I couldn't put it down and I couldn't start the next book fast enough. I can't wait to see the movie.

03:15 pm: BIKES

I totally wrote an essay on why I -above anyone else- deserve a Cycle Seven bike and sent it in to Outside magazine.  They run about $9,500 but they're giving one away -custom built- to the winner of the essay contest! HOW COOL IS THAT!?!

Let's hope I win!! Cross your fingers for me. WOOT!!

02:29 pm:

Today is one of those blessed days where I can lay about and do whatever I damn well please. That just so happens to mean sleeping in, ignoring my running shoes, and eating fatty food. ::sigh:: I love lazy days. I deserve one!

Dreaming about ice cream....
