It's been a few days, but the prophet has died. ( the propeht ) So...since he was 97 years old when he died, there is a "Hinckley Challenge" going on to read the Book Of Mormon in 97 days. A few years ago he challenged all Latter Day Saints to read the Book of Mormon in one year. I accepted this new , "Hinckley Challenge," with a lot of enthusiasm, mostly because I'd like to honor him. There's a site you can go join that will log your reading and show you how others are doing. As of 8:00 tonight, there are 22,640 people who have signed up and accepted the challenge. How amazing is that?! It makes my heart swell to know how many lives he has touched. I suspect the numbers will continue to climb. I love the Book of Mormon. Really. Gacked from Lissa...I haven't heard from you in forever! I hope all is well. Okay, here's what you're supposed to do and try not to be a SCROOGE!!! So, I'm turning 28 on Sunday and I don't think I need to really explain how much I do NOT want to get older. So instead I'll reflect on all I've accomplished this last year, and then list some goals for the next. November 19th, 2007: Holy Hannah, it's been a long time! So...life is goodish. I really can't complain. I'm excited for the holiday weekend so I can go home and see my family. My sister had a new baby so I'll get to meet her for the first time. Freeman is coming to Thanksgiving dinner with me. I hope my family doesn't freak him out. He's invited me to his work Christmas party, but it's on the 20th and we don't get out (officially) until the 24th. Pretty late this year, but I'm thinking I can probably take two days off. Right? I'll feel guilty but not TOO guilty. Work is...meh. There are problems with parents but I've got to learn to not take things so personally. No one can make them happy. Anyhow, I've got a lot to catch up on with my flist...I haven't been around for awhile. Current Location: work Current Mood: October 25th, 2007:
Interesting. I'm, unofficially, an INFP personality; I'd say that's very accurate. This means that I'm an Introvert:

A/N: This little fic was first scribbled down on loose bits of paper whilst on my own little family camping excursion well over two years ago. It had been a disaster and I spent most of my time hiding away in my hot tent to keep away from the wasps, documenting my misery for such an occasion as this. Anyhow, it turned into this monstrosity; enjoy! Oh, and I don’t know what the British version of a “pancake” is (if they even eat them), so I just left it Americanized. And I’d just like to say that I’ve eaten enough of those pancakes growing up, to have had them permanently stain my opinion of them. Even when they’re cooked properly, I can’t touch the things. Part Two should be up on the weekend. I hope you enjoyed it. Current Location: home Current Mood: August 11th, 2007:
Ha ha ha! Have you ever been in a the kind of mood where you're so INCREDIBLY tired that anything and everything is freakin' hilarious? Current Mood: August 10th, 2007:
James E. Faust died this morning just after midnight. He was an excellent and upstanding man and he was loved greatly by all those who knew him, as well by those who he touched through his words. I never met him personally, but I've listened to his soft and reassuring voice since I was 15. I'm terribly sad that he is gone from us, but I know that he's in a much better place now. He was such a wonderful man.... You can read more in this article, if you'd like. Current Location: home Current Mood: August 4th, 2007:
So I go online to sell some of my books. We're going to be moving soon and I just have a lot of stuff and I thought, why not sell some of it?! So like I said and I post two of my most favorite books (both classics; both in excellent condition, both dated at the turn of the century.). I thought I'd sell them for something like twenty bucks, seeing as that's about how much I paid for them at the flea markets. Turns out, similar books -and they're not as in as good condition as mine- are selling for 300.00. Woah. I had NO idea. We'll see if I get any buyers. Let's hope. I'm also selling my desk and dresser, which I'm loathe to see go. I love them both, but they just won't fit in my new apt. My roommate has a LOT of stuff and well, I hate clutter. So I'd rather sell my stuff and live simply than have a house FULL of furniature. I like open spaces. A lot. But I love my furniature. I spent months picking it out. *sigh* I hope I get my asking price. I don't really want to lose money on them. Wishful thinking? Probably. I took some pictures of Harry today. So freaking cute. How can you not love rabbits?! Current Location: home now Current Mood: July 22nd, 2007:
When I first got the book, I held it in my hands and felt this insane urge to put it on my shelf and not read it. I didn't want to start what was the beginning of the end. ( DH SPOILERS ) Anyhow, I'd like to know what you all thought. July 11th, 2007:
I LOVED OotP. LOVED! I felt that it is, by far, the best movie so far. The acting is so much better -Daniel -and especially Emma- have blossomed. They all did such a wonderful job. Excellent. Seriously over-shot all my expectations. Current Mood: July 10th, 2007: woot woot SQUEE!! I'm going to watch OotP tomorrow at 7:00!! And I get to watch it with a kid, which makes it somehow more fun. A student of mine called me up to say that she missed me and wanted to see me, so I said I'd take her to the movie. I'd been reading the HP books with her during the school year -just her and I- for 30 minutes everyday. I got her hooked. Anyway, I can't wait for the movie! Or the book for that matter. SQUEE!! Current Location: Home Current Mood: July 8th, 2007July 6th, 2007: BOOK REC. I read Pullman's, The Golden Compass last week -very good- and have started on the next installment, The Subtle Knife. He's a brilliant writer and I'm captivated by his storytelling. Really amazing. I guess they're making a movie of Compass that's suppose to be out in the winter sometime. I couldn't put it down and I couldn't start the next book fast enough. I can't wait to see the movie. Current Mood: June 25th, 2007: BIKES I totally wrote an essay on why I -above anyone else- deserve a Cycle Seven bike and sent it in to Outside magazine. They run about $9,500 but they're giving one away -custom built- to the winner of the essay contest! HOW COOL IS THAT!?! Current Location: home Current Mood: June 24th, 2007June 23rd, 2007:
Today is one of those blessed days where I can lay about and do whatever I damn well please. That just so happens to mean sleeping in, ignoring my running shoes, and eating fatty food. ::sigh:: I love lazy days. I deserve one! |
